How To Throw The Perfect Island Princess Themed Party

If your little is coconuts for all things Moana, a Moana-themed party can be the perfect way to celebrate their big day!

We’ve put together a list of five easy steps to turn your party into an island princess paradise, so you can forget the stress and make your little one’s day as magical and memorable as possible!

Step One: Who’s On Board?

This is not just an ordinary party – it’s a princess party! This means it deserves some princess invitations to match. Create your own island-themed invitations with your child by getting them to draw their very own moana picture, scanning it and adding all the details you need. Or, if the ocean is calling and you don’t have enough time, you can always create it digitally or even download a ready-made design online.

Step Two: Who’s Hungry?

Flower-shaped sandwiches, flower/leaf-themed sweets, and island-themed cupcakes will make an enchanting display on your nibbles table! Don’t forget all the reds, blues and greens in the colour theme. Sea-themed cute fruit will also go down a treat! To add an extra special touch, why not make some flip flop cookies?

Step Three: Decorate

Think island leaves, balloon arches and maybe even a themed backdrop! Putting up themed decorations will make the space perfect for you and your guests to take pictures and share all the memories. You can find cheap options online – or create a project with your little one and paint it yourselves to give it that personalised touch!

Step Four: Party Entertainment

Wondering how to keep a room full of excited children entertained for a couple of hours?  Why not hire the best Moana in the UK?! Princess Safiya not only looks like the real life Moana she also has the most incredible singing voice, guaranteed to give your guests goose bumps. With specially designed, Moana themed party games Princess Safiya from Snow Princess Parties will take the stress out of your party. Contact us today for an action-filled, energetic and exciting party.

Step Five: Time to Get Dressed-up!

You can’t have an island-themed party without getting into character! So get your flower chains, Hawaiian skirts and shirts at the ready and let’s have some fun!

The Best Moana in the UK – Moana Themed Princess Parties

With the excitement building for the new Moana film, our Island Princess parties have never been more popular! If your little one is coconuts for Moana, an island princess party is the perfect way to make their special day magical and memorable!

Princess Safiya loves entertaining children and wants to make all their fairytale dreams come to life!

As a child, Safiya always loved dressing up as a princess. But she sometimes found something was missing: a princess that looked like her. That is until Moana was released in 2016, when Safiya was finally able to see herself on the screen. Since then she’s made it her mission to spread this magical feeling to the little ones that may feel like her.

With her curly hair and bright smile Safiya was often told that she resembles the island princess, even taking her as far as making it through to the final stages of working at a park in Shanghai. By using the skills she built from her musical theatre degree Safiya has gone on to do a variety of professional contracts and even worked at a holiday park presenting and singing.

Safiya uses her expertise to create unique, diverse and exciting parties as the island princess herself. You will always find her singing and dancing along to the fun and much-loved soundtrack. (sidenote: We are all super excited to hear the new one with the release of the sequel and live action films!)

“I absolutely love working with children and all things princess and how I get to incorporate those things at a very professional level. By being a professional princess I am able to hopefully inspire little ones that they can truly live their dreams and do something gratifying with their life” – Princess Safiyah

Safiya is super excited to spread a diverse magic. She will never forget the first time she got told at a party “wow you look like me” “our hair is the same”. It’s a very special feeling meeting a child whilst dressed as the princess that most changed the way they view themselves, the character that made them realise they can be a princess too, no matter what they look like!

As children sing and dance Safiya is reminded of when she was little and is more than grateful that she is able to bring such magic to life. Safya is determined to spread the Moana magic across the UK!

“The Best Princess Elsa in Dover”

Princess Kelsey has been entertaining kids for as long as she can remember. After starting out as a crazy scientist with Fizz Pop Science, she graduated on to living her best life as Director of Snow Princess, Kent in 2021.

As a child, Kelsey would encourage all her friends to dress as princesses for parties, so they could all have a ball. She never believed she’d be doing that very thing years later on a very serious, professional level!

With a love for all things storytelling, Kelsey also has a degree in Television Production.

“I’ve worked with kids for as long as I can remember, first as a brownie leader, and worked with young actors on film sets. I’m always blown away by their passion, talent, and belief that magical things can happen.” – Princess Kelsey

Successfully growing Snow Princess Parties in North Kent, Kelsey is determined to spread the magic of action-packed parties through SouthKent, expanding into the areas of Canterbury, Folkestone and Hythe, Thanet, Dover and Ashford!

Kelsey’s princess highlights include her annual Princess Parades(which will be coming to Dover in the not-too-distant future – watch this space!), appearing on Kent Radio, and Light Up New Romney’s annual Lantern Parade.

Whether you’re looking for an authentic Elsa, a magical unicorn, a glittering fairy, or any number of classic princesses and superheroes, Princess Kelsey can bring the magic to you!

Since the announcement that a certain red-haired mermaid will be returning to our screens this May, our mermaid parties have become more popular than ever before! With this in mind, we want to share our top tips for throwing the most epic ‘under the sea’ party of the year.

Mermaid-Themed Invitations

Make a splash before the party has even started with some beautiful ‘under the sea’ themed invitations. This is your chance to get creative and establish the colour palette, décor, and overall theme of the party! There are plenty of available templates online – how magical are these DIY sparkly shells?! Don’t forget to give your guests at least 2 weeks to RSVP, and include the venue address and mermaid dress code.

Deep Sea Snacks

No party is complete without delicious, fun, and creative food. There are so many possibilities for fin-tastic mermaid-themed treats that we have compiled a separate list of 10 magical food ideas for your mermaid party.

sand castle birthday cake for mermaid-themed party

Of course, the pinnacle of all party foods is the birthday cake. Whilst we are certainly no Mary Berry, we have seen (and eaten!) dozens of beautiful mermaid cakes over the years. You could create a simple yet effective sandcastle cake, using crushed biscuits to mimic sand and ice cream cones for the turrets. But if this all sounds a little over-whale-ming, you can always turn to your local bakery or cake shop!

Mermaid Backdrop

Transform your venue into an underwater paradise with a mermaid backdrop. This is a great way to incorporate your theme and provides a space to take gorgeous photos for you to treasure forever.

Check out this beautiful balloon arch in the shape of a mermaid’s tail! This aquatic-themed garland is a perfect addition to your under-the-sea celebrations.

jellyfish paper decorations for mermaid party

Why not get the kids involved in the party prep and craft some DIY jellyfish decorations? All you need is coloured card, scissors, string, a glue stick, sticky tape, colour pens, pencils and glitter (optional).

Get the mermaid look

Mermaid makeup for party

Transform your little one into a real-life mermaid princess on their special day! A fun and simple way to do this is by holding fishnet tights against their face before applying face paint, to create a scaly effect. You could finish the look off by adding cosmetic glitter and a few gems; they will be true mermaid royalty!

Want to take the mermaid look one step further? Create the colourful mermaid hair of dreams by purchasing temporary hair chalk or these pretty hair clips from Claires.

Aquatic Adventures

party games for mermaid themed party

Entertaining a group of children for hours is certainly no easy task, so engaging and on-theme party games are super important. Put an aquatic spin on a classic party game with pin the tail on the mermaid! Each guest will be blindfolded and take turns to pin the tail as close to the correct spot as possible!

Hosting an outdoor party? Create a pirate treasure hunt! Hide gold coins around the venue and give the children clues to find them along the way. You could also hide a treasure chest full of treats somewhere for everyone to enjoy at the end!

Swap the Party Bag for a Treasure Box

Party favours are a staple of any birthday party and are an excellent way to keep the fun going even after the event has ended! Stay on theme by swapping the traditional party bag with a treasure box full of goodies. Simply find a template online and assemble the box out of card (which is also more environmentally friendly than typical plastic party bags). Fill with mermaid stickers, pencils, a notepad, temporary glitter tattoos, slime, chocolate coins, or other exciting treats.

Hire a Mermaid Entertainer

10 Magical Food Ideas for your Mermaid-Themed Party!

Ready to throw the most epic under-the-sea party of the year? These mermaid-themed food ideas are certain to make a splash with all the guests!

Clam-Shell Cookies

These deep-sea snacks are sure to leave a sweet taste in the mouths of your guests, and they are super simple to make!

  1. Purchase a box of plain cookies, or bake them yourself by following a basic recipe online.
  1. Create your buttercream icing by beating icing sugar, butter, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  1. Separate your buttercream into three separate bowls and add food colouring. We recommend purple, pink and blue for that true mermaid aesthetic!
  1. Pipe the buttercream onto the underside of one cookie, and sandwich another on top. Finish your clams by adding a small, round sweet (yoghurt-covered raisins are a great choice but feel free to get creative!) in the middle to mimic a pearl.

Ocean Water Punch

ocean water punch

There is perhaps nothing that screams ‘mermaid party’ more than a bright ocean-coloured drink! This novel idea is sure to be a hit with younger guests, and you only need three ingredients:

  1. Pineapple Juice
  1. Blue Food Colouring
  1. Lemon and Lime Soft Drink, e.g. Sprite

If you want to make an adult version of this drink, consider adding Malibu!

Blue Jelly in Sand

Who doesn’t love jelly?! Mermify this birthday party staple by making it ocean blue. If you can’t find any blue jelly in the supermarket, use some of the blue food colouring left over from your clam-shell cookies and ocean water punch. Pour into small, shot-sized plastic cups, and leave in the fridge overnight to set. Finish by placing the jelly cups on a bed of crushed biscuits or brown sugar, to mimic sand.

Fruit Crabs

mermaid themed party fruit crabs

For a healthier treat, try creating these adorable fruit crabs!

  1. Peel an orange and divide it into segments.
  1. Cut the orange peel with a knife or scissors, to make the crab’s legs.
  1. Poke a grape or a blueberry through a cocktail stick and insert it into the orange segment to create an eye. Repeat this step for the other eye.

And that’s it! Healthy food has never looked so cute!

Starfish Sandwiches

sea themed sandwiches

Sandwiches are a must at any party, so why not make them fit the theme by simply cutting them into the shape of starfish?! You will be the star of the show after your guests try these fun, tasty snacks!

You could also try making mini starfish pizzas in the same way!

All you need is:

1. Little yoghurt pots/cups

2) Vanilla yoghurt with a drop of blue food colouring.

3) Shark jelly sweets.

4) Crushed biscuits (to mimic sand).

You can finish these fin-tastic treats by adding a cocktail umbrella!

Mermaid Rice Krispie Treats

These gorgeous mermaid Rice Krispie treats are perfect for your under-the-sea party, and they involve no baking whatsoever!

  1. Buy a box of Rice Krispie squares, or make them yourself if you have more time on your hands. You can do this by combining butter, marshmallows, and Rice Krispies in a saucepan. Mix well, then place the mixture in a lined baking tray. Put the tray in the fridge and leave for 2-3 hours to set, and then cut it into squares.
  1. Melt some white chocolate in the microwave and add blue food colouring. Alternatively, you could use Wilton Turquoise Candy Melts.
  1. Dip the Rice Krispie squares into the chocolate, but only halfway. This creates the look of the ocean against the sand!
  1. Now for the fun part: the decorations! This is your chance to get creative – sweets, sprinkles… you decide. Put your creations back in the fridge to set, and after a few more hours they will finally be party ready!

Seaweed

There are two different options for creating these sweet seaweed treats. You could buy some sour lace sweets, or, for a healthier option, grape skewers also create that under-the-sea effect. Seaweed has never looked quite so appetising!
